Hayden Wiggs / News Director

Meet your News Director, Hayden Wiggs! Hayden is a junior Journalism major from Atlanta, Georgia, also pursuing minors in History, English, Theatre Arts, and Political Science. This is Hayden’s second year with Rebel Radio, having worked as a News Reporter her sophomore year. She currently oversees Rebel Radio’s News Department, leading a team of reporters and producing daily newscasts.

Last year, she placed second in the Best News Reporter category of the 2020 Southeast Journalism Conference Best of the South competition for her piece on Kiese Laymon’s speech at the 2019 SFA Food Festival. She has also worked as a Staff Writer for the metro-Atlanta paper, The North Gwinnett Voice and its predecessor The Buford Weekly Illustrated for six years. Last semester, she wrote pieces for Oxford Stories, winning the Oxford Stories Reporter of the Year and Assistant Editor Awards. She also writes articles for her sorority’s monthly parent and alumni newsletter.

Outside of Rebel Radio, Hayden is an active member of Alpha Phi and the Ole Miss Cardinal Club. She is also a member of the Phi Alpha Theta history honors society. She is excited to use this opportunity to amplify student voices concerning events in and around Oxford, and hopes you will turn in to Rebel Radio News Hour!
